Today's blog is a really honest product review of Protein World's:
Vital Veggies Blend
The product has the same lid as the other protein world products but the green label really makes this product stand out. Like other Protein World products, there is a small booklet attached. I had a flick through to find information on ways to incorporate Vital Veggies Blend into my diet but there actually wasn’t any information included. So this blog has been about some trial and error. Once I finish this tub I will write a second blog and let you know if I would use this again!
When taking out the scoop I noticed how fine the product is and I did make a bit of a mess. So be careful when taking the scoop out as the product is ground down really fine like flour. When first opening the product it almost smelt like cut grass and kale. It is quite faint, you can tell this is a vegetable mix. So, what is in this product? There are ten key ingredients included as below
Broccoli: Packed with vitamins and a great source of fibre or as my mum would say, "a hoover for the blood that cleans up all the bad bits!"
Parsley: Great for Beta- Carotene and vitamin C, a friend of mine had once advised that I boil up some fresh parsley and drink the water and how good it is for me, after I felt poorly. I did actually try it, I bought it in Sainsbury’s there and then and boiled up however I don’t think you can see the full effects doing it just once as I did!
Spirulina: A good source of Vitamin K which is essential to building strong bones, preventing heart disease, and crucial part of other bodily processes. It also help with blood clotting as it is a fat-soluble vitamin.
Barley Grass: Also is a great source of Beta-Carotene and also vitamins B1, 2, 6 & 12
Our bodies actually convert Beta-Carotene into Vitamin A, great for healthy skin and mucus membranes, our immune system, and good eye health and vision
Alfafa: A herbal supplement rich in protein, antioxidants and minerals. Also includes more vitamins, we have A, C & K in here too!
Chlorella: Is a type of algae which is used in supplements to help with the bacteria on the digestive system. It’s advertised as helping to treat ulcers, colitis, Crohn's disease, and diverticulosis.
Kale: Super popular for being low in calorie, zero fat and high in fibre!
Matcha Tea: Mentioned already in my tea blog! So check it out if you have not already, matcha is growing on shop shelves! The powder is sold in Holland and Barret, Coven garden tea shop and even T2 all selling at around £20. Known to help burn fat and is
super high in antioxidants matcha is growing in popularity in 2016 and is going to be big business for 2017 for sure!
Spinach: Excellent for Vitamin A & K , high in iron and magnesium too! I love spinach for everything! When I get my monthly chocolate craving I’m always reaching for the spinach first to see it it’s simply an iron boost I need!
Wheatgrass: is an effective healer because it contains all minerals known to man, and vitamins A, B-complex, C, E, l and K.
Each ingredient appears to be in equal measures as the label advises 1g of each per 10g scoop. Each scoop comes in at 30 calories. Natural Stevia and natural flavourings have also been added.
How did I use this product?
I added it to a homemade green smoothie. The smoothie was made using innocents coconut water, kale, spinach, mango and the vital veggies blend! I would recommend you add this at the top of your ingredients as its such a fine powder it may stick to the bottom of your blender cup #LessonLearned
After having the smoothie I did have more energy within a couple of hours which is great to help limit the coffee I drink. As I make smoothies with plenty of fresh green vegetables I couldn’t really justify how this product would actually benefit me.
Until.... I added a scoop on day two, to my morning proteinworld protein shake, slender blend.
I added one scoop of vital veggies, 4 scoops of vanilla slender blend and 400ml of water. The entire shake blended together so well and now it makes sense as to why this product is so fine. I don’t make smoothies at work because I don’t have the facility to do so but I do have my protein shake with water. So this means I can now supplement my daily shake and gain benefits I would usually get from a smoothie!
Within two hours I felt more alert, it gave me an energy boost I get from caffeine! My personal experience is that the veggies blend is a stimulant. It also has a detox effect to it.
Day three and I tried this with Chocolate ProteinWorld, which I would not recommend! It works so much better with the vanilla flavour and I would imagine the unflavoured proteinworld blend too!
On the third day using Vital Veggies Blend my metabolism sped up, a lot!
This product is going to head straight to the office with me, ready for my morning post work out shakes at my desk! At home I have a blender and access to food to make fresh vegetable smoothies. However now I can actually add all of these great vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to my daily shake.
Let me know if any of you have
tried this product and how!
I really want to try and add
this into some of my energy balls and home baking too!
